Nintirri Centre is excited to celebrate the launch of “Keeping Kids Safe in Tom Price and Paraburdoo” by author Andrea Musulin during Children’s Week this year.
Who is Nintirri and why are we excited about this book launch?
Nintirri Centre is a not-for-profit enterprise organisation located in the heart of the Pilbara in the small mining town of Tom Price, Western Australia, with around 3000 residents.
It has been operating its community services and programs for over 41 years, providing essential support for families who call Tom Price home. Nintirri aims to provide services that support the community to thrive and families to feel connected, safe and empowered in a remote town, where services are often limited compared to majorly populated regions. Essential Services include Nintirri Early Learning, the Community Resource Centre, Health and Wellbeing Support for expecting mothers and a community health nurse.
Nintirri is also invested in the arts and culture of our region, providing a creative space through the local Art Hub and continuing to be a major contributor to the Karijini Experience – an annual cultural showcase.
Another vital service is our Family Violence Counselling Service. It is through this service that the development of the “Keeping Kids Safe in Tom Price and Paraburdoo” book was created.
With support and funding from other local service providers, Nintirri have worked to ensure that this educational tool kit is made available for our most valuable residents – the children in our communities. Thank you to author Andrea Musulin in helping to create a local storybook that will hopefully go to every child in the towns and communities of the Tom Price area. The beautifully illustrated book not only show cases the many great things that make our Pilbara towns special but also sends the important message to all who read the book that:
“All kids in Tom Price and Paraburdoo have the right to feel safe all of the time!”
