That’s why the team at Meerilinga Kingsley have worked with their children to create a fun and colourful book that explores the United Nations ‘Conventions on the Rights of the Child’. This 26-page book combines the words and illustrations of the Kingsley children with the actual rights as their proclaimed by the United Nations in a mode of co-creation that provided the children with greater agency, an important aspect when it comes to respecting the rights of children. By contextualising the children’s perspective with the United Nations language, adults can also better understand the perspective of children when it comes to their rights.
