Early Childhood professionals are invited to a presentation by Learning Futures Advisor Kim Flintoff. This workshop is presented in partnership with Meerilinga and the Department of Education for 2018.

The topic of the seminar is Education and Emerging Futures. Thanks to the Western Australian Education Department, in this lecture Kim will look at trends and shifts that impact learning from cradle to grave, along with current projects and new insights into what’s defining the priorities moving forward.

With a special focus on the early years, the lecture will additionally delve into the capabilities needed by learners, the need for parents and educators to provide quality learning experiences, and questions that have been raised on Schooling for a Digital Culture.

Karen Wellington, Program Manager of CoderDojo WA, will reveal ways educators can encourage their child’s interests, freedom, responsibility & choice, while reflecting on the Importance of Play and strategies for families to better communicate about technology & STEM.

Completing the topic of learning futures will be Griffin Longley, CEO Nature Play WA, talking about how to embrace digital trends & STEM while balancing children & families’ screen time with outdoor nature play.
