Did your organisation miss out on a Children’s Week WA Community Grant, but you still want to organise an event? Department of Communities (Communities) is encouraging organisations to hold their own micro-events to increase awareness of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations (National Principles).
The theme for Children’s Week 2025, ‘Everyone should know about Children’s Rights’, aligns with National Principle 2 – Children and young people are informed about their rights, participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously. Organisation cultures that prioritise children and young people provide an environment that is empowering and enhance children’s participation in decision making.
To provide opportunities for ongoing conversations about the National Principles and prioritising children’s safety, Communities is encouraging organisations to register a private or public micro-event.
Events registered with Communities can receive event resources to assist your organisation in promotion and awareness raising of the National Principles. Find out more information on the Child Safe Organisations Knowledge Hub.
Child Safe Organisations Seminar
Communities is also hosting the Child Safe Organisations Seminar 2025: Rights and participation of children and young people in organisations, in collaboration with sector partners.
This free online and in-person event will be held Friday 24 October 2025, 9.30am – 12:30pm, tickets are available via Eventbrite and includes international and local guest speakers. The seminar will focus on the rights and participation of children and young people in organisations and implementing the National Principles.
